In that second I realized how often vehicle recalls happen. Ever car manufacturer has recalls at some point! Do you know if your car or fleet of cars has any recalls on it?

Sometimes they are very minor and sometimes they are dangerous and can caused injuries if unresolved.

Most people don’t know how to go about finding out if there are any open recalls on their own personal vehicle.

This post will show how to find out about recalls and how much warranty is on your vehicle.

To find out if your vehicle has a recall take the VIN (vehicle identification number located on the bottom driver side corner of your windshield) of the car and call any dealership that sells your make, by make I mean Ford, Dodge, whoever the manufacturer is.

Ask to speak to someone in service, and then tell them you want to find out if your vehicle has any open recalls on it. If there is a recall, the manufacturer will pay for this repair, so it’s a great idea to get it done.

While you’re talking to the dealerships, you can also ask how much warranty is left on your vehicle. Knowing how much warranty you have left is great because it can save you money. If you have a few months left on warranty and you have noticed a problem with your car you can get it fixed for free before the warranty ends, as opposed to having to pay for it out of pocket after the warranty expires.

Most cars have multiple warranties; new cars have a full warranty that covers everything except naturally wearing parts, like brake pads and windshield wipers. Cars that are 3 – 5 years old often have powertrain warranty which covers the expensive stuff on your car like transmissions, engines, axles and sometimes electronic components, items that if you had to pay for out of pocket would cost you thousands of dollars.
