The first thing I look at when helping a client buy a vehicle is what option package they want on the Vehicle. Each vehicle is built in a number of variations, packages and options. Understanding these packages and options will allow you to compare apples to apples and will help you buy a car.
If you are comparing two similar cars, i.e. Toyota Matrix, but your comparing a base model vs. an XRS model, the prices will be different right off the line.
This link is a comparison of 2006 Toyota matrix Models, showing the range from a base model to an XRS model.
Why this is so important is this, if you are comparing an XRS model vs. a base model, the base model new would have been thousands of dollars cheaper. So if your comparing a base to a an XRS the price should be a lot less even though it’s the same car.
Every car is built like this, making sure you are comparing similar models is important. The website I posted above is a great resource for comparing models.
